Child of God
It is about this curious, precocious child (me) playing in a vast area: On one side is an eternal cliff that falls into an abyss; on the opposite side is a lush greenery and deep into it are wild animals; on lateral sides are a long stretch of flat land that are alternately desert-like and savanah-like. At the center is You, sitting under a fruit-bearing high Tree that overlooks everything and beside You is a deep-well of fresh water. Though I never thought of jumping off the eternal cliff, or even dared to go near it, I’ve wandered to the other areas so much, and oftentimes so far off that I could no longer see You. I’ve gotten lost many times but I always look for the Tree so I can go back to where You are. I also tried climbing that Tree because I wanted to get to the top and see everything. Besides, I knew that if I fell You would catch me. Whilst on the way up, I had the urge to look down. I got scared because I couldn’t see You anymore. I realized that from where I’ve reached, I could already see everything anyway because the Tree has a 360 degree view. Also, I’ve got wounds all over me that threatens to fester. I am exhausted from the climbing. I am famished and I’m way above the part of the Tree that has fruits. I am severely parched. Is it worth dying on the climb to the top of the Tree? I decided not and so I chose to go down. Everything I needed is where You are. When I reached the ground, You were patiently waiting for me in the form of Jesus Christ. I knelt before you and said, “Father God, I humbly ask for Your forgiveness. Please allow me to stay with You and to serve You now and forevermore.”. With a warm smile on Your face, you put your hand on my head and said, “Welcome home, Child of God.”.
I pray that you liked the story. It’s my simple offering to You. Though I have to declare, it is not as epic as The Bible. This epic story that You wrote is playing out according to Your Word — historical account, realtime narration and a foretelling of the end times with Your inevitable victory. All is as good as done!
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 21:6–7
Central to this story is You in the form of Jesus Christ. Your Children just needs to focus on You by following the example of Jesus Christ. That’s the ONLY way that a Child of God can join Your Kingdom and have eternal life!
A true Child of God must bear his/her own cross — avoid sin, endure persecution, and spread Your Word for the salvation of Your Children.
Live by faith, not by sight. To God be the Glory!
